DHARA – Pilgrim Center Development.

Title: DHARA – Pilgrim Center Development.
Authors: Sharma, Uday N; Mattoo, Shweta
Abstract: The Pilgrim Center design presents a cohesive integration of spatial planning, cultural sensitivity, climatic responsiveness, and user-focused functionality. Rooted in an understanding of pilgrimage behavior, crowd movement, and ritual practices, the master plan creates a campus that is both operationally efficient
and experientially meaningful. Organized along a strong central axis with circular gathering courts and clear
zoning, the plan ensures smooth transitions between high-activity spaces—like the Mahaprasadalaya and Yagna Shala—and quieter zones such as accommodation towers, meditation halls, the library, and the museum. This hierarchical structure supports intuitive navigation, balanced crowd distribution, and a purposeful sequence of spiritual and communal experiences.
Material selection—red sandstone, general sandstone, Makrana marble, and mud blocks—reflects a deliberate response to climate, cultural identity, and functionality. These materials enhance thermal comfort, reduce dependence on mechanical cooling, and reinforce a timeless architectural character. Courtyard-based planning further strengthens the environmental performance of the project, providing natural ventilation, daylight, and comfortable microclimates across administrative, residential, and gallery spaces. These open courts also create psychological relief and subtle pauses within the overall circulation network. Ultimately, the project represents a thoughtful architectural response that harmonizes tradition with contemporary needs. By aligning spatial hierarchy, material intelligence, climate strategy, and cultural resonance, the Pilgrim Center
creates a unified and spiritually enriching environment capable of supporting both everyday worship and large-scale pilgrimage activity.

Title: NEUROSIMBIOSIS – An Integrated Research Campus.
Authors: K. A., Siri; Haribal, Harsha P.
Abstract: This thesis ‘NeuroSimbiosis’ is a biomimicry – driven research campus that integrates neuroscience, veterinary science and envinormental health with ‘One Health’ framework, which is a global approach that recognizes interconnected health among humans, animals and ecosystem.
Located near Bannerghatta, a biodiversity corridor and research hub, the project will create a secure and sustainable research ecosystem to support studies in behavior, neuroscience, molecular, and zoonotic studies. The facilities include BSL-2 wet labs, small-animal holding, academic zones, spaces for interactive knowledge, and nature-integrated environments.

Authors: G. B., Prerana; S, Kusumanjali
Abstract: This thesis suggests a built intervention that: • Restores and promotes traditional artisan techniques (stone carving, banana fiber weaving, mural painting, metalwork, etc.) at a time when traditional knowledge systems are rapidly disappearing due to the pressures of globalization and modernization.
• Uses contemporary tools like VR/AR, digital archives, and interactive exhibitions to connect the past and present; • Interprets historical and mythological narratives
8
through immersive architectural storytelling
• Involves regional communities and artisans, transforming them into proactive contributors to cultural conservation
• Encourages environmentally friendly, context-aware design that honors the site's spirit by utilizing traditional materials and methods.

Title: SHUBHA ANGANA - Wedding and Leisure Resort.
Authors: A, Pallavi; M, Manu
Abstract: This thesis proposes the integration of ceremonial, hospitality and recreational programs within a sensitive rural-edge landscape. The research objective is to create a flexible design framework that meets the operational demands of wedding events and hospitality while celebrating local cultural character and ecological context. The project includes multiple configurable event lawns, banquet and service blocks, cottages, villas, suites, wellness and recreational amenities and integrated landscape corridors that organize movement and views.
The thesis concludes with detailed plans, sections, visualizations that demonstrate how Shubha Angana can function as a resilient, culturally resonant resort delivering memorable ceremonial and leisure experiences while maintaining environmental responsibility and community benefit.
