Title: A Study to Assess the Anxiety Levels of the Undergoing Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Selected Hospitals Bengaluru with a View to Develop an Information Booklet
Authors: Keerthi Sudha, Perumalla; Murali, Megha
Abstract: Background
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a widely used diagnostic procedure that, while safe and
effective, often induces anxiety in patients due to its enclosed environment, loud noises, and
unfamiliarity.
Objectives
To assess the anxiety levels of patients undergoing MRI at selected hospitals in Bengaluru and
to develop an information booklet to support anxiety reduction.
Methodology
A descriptive non-experimental research design was adopted. A total of 50 patients were
selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using a structured interview
schedule and an anxiety rating scale.
Results
The majority of patients (58%) experienced moderate anxiety, followed by 30% with mild
anxiety, and 12% with severe anxiety. The overall mean anxiety score was 31.46 (41.94%),
indicating a moderate level of anxiety. Statistical analysis showed significant associations
between anxiety levels and factors such as previous MRI experience and source of information.
However, demographic variables like age, gender, education, and occupation showed no
significant association.

Authors: Snehalatha, Reddy P; Rai, Sara; T, Rabeeh; Shan, Muhammed
Abstract: Traditional teaching methods in nursing, such as lectures and
demonstrations, often do not provide sufficient hands-on exposure to
critical procedures like cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Simulation Based Learning (SBL) provides a safe, interactive, and controlled
environment where nursing students can practice essential skills without
compromising patient safety. Research evidence highlights its role in
improving knowledge, psycho motor competence, critical thinking, and
confidence among students, thereby bridging the gap between theory and
clinical practice.

An Exploratory Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching Programme on Knowledge and Practice Regarding Coronary Artery Diseases among Adolescents in Selected Colleges at Bangalore

Title: An Exploratory Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching Programme on Knowledge and Practice Regarding Coronary Artery Diseases among Adolescents in Selected Colleges at Bangalore
Authors: Nirmala; Asil, Mohammed; Fayis C K, Muhammed; Althaf T V, Muhammed; Favas C, Muhammed
Abstract: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and a major contributor
to morbidity and mortality in India. Sedentary lifestyles, poor dietary patterns, smoking, alcohol
consumption, and high stress levels have accelerated the incidence of CAD in recent decades.
According to the World Health Organization and national health surveys, CAD continues to be one of
the most common causes of premature death in India, particularly in urban populations and among
younger adults.
Urbanization has brought significant lifestyle transitions, particularly in metropolitan regions such as
Bangalore. The National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5, 2019–2021) reported that obesity prevalence
in urban areas is approximately 33.2% among women and 29.8% among men. In Karnataka, the trend
is even more concerning due to rapid changes in food habits, long working hours, reliance on motorized
transport, and reduced opportunities for physical activity. Obesity is not only a disease in itself but also
a major risk factor for several chronic illnesses, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and
cardiovascular diseases. The combination of obesity and sedentary urban lifestyles makes CAD even
more likely, contributing significantly to the rising burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in
India.
Despite the strong evidence linking obesity with CAD, many individuals remain unaware of the risks
or fail to adopt preventive measures. Awareness of modifiable risk factors such as unhealthy diet,
physical inactivity, smoking, and stress management remains low. Health education is critical in
addressing this gap, yet in many communities, structured health education programmes are either
unavailable, inadequately implemented, or ineffective in changing long-term behaviors. Conventional
approaches, such as health talks, leaflets, or pamphlets, often fail to capture attention or ensure
retention of knowledge.
Innovative teaching strategies are therefore required to make health education more effective,
engaging, and sustainable. One such approach is video-assisted teaching. Videos are a powerful
medium that combine visual and auditory learning, making complex medical concepts easy to
understand. They are especially useful in populations with varying literacy levels, as they demonstrate
processes and behaviors in a clear, relatable, and memorable manner. Evidence from recent studies
suggests that video-assisted teaching not only improves knowledge but also motivates individuals to
adopt healthier practices, which is essential for the prevention of CAD and other lifestyle-related
diseases.
9
10
This study seeks to assess the effectiveness of a video-assisted teaching programme on knowledge and
practice regarding CAD among obese individuals in selected urban communities of Bangalore. The
intention is to provide an accessible and engaging method of health education that empowers
individuals to take proactive steps toward better heart health. By illustrating the functioning of the
heart, demonstrating lifestyle modifications, and sharing real-life scenarios, the programme aims to
encourage participants to adopt preventive behaviours such as healthy eating, regular physical activity,
stress reduction, and timely medical consultations.

Abstract: Gonorrhea, a common sexually transmitted infection caused by Neisseria
gonorrhoeae, remains a major public health concern due to rising antimicrobial
resistance and gaps in awareness. This study was conducted to assess the knowledge
regarding prevention and management of gonorrhea among 4th year B.Sc. Nursing
students in a selected college. A descriptive research design was adopted, and data
were collected from 50 students using a structured self-administered questionnaire. The tool comprised demographic variables and 30 knowledge-based questions. Data
were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, mean, and percentage, along with chi-square tests to determine associations between knowledge and selected
demographic variables. Findings revealed that the majority of students (82%) had average knowledge, 18%
demonstrated poor knowledge, and none showed good knowledge of gonorrhea
prevention and management. The mean knowledge score was 11.38 out of 30, with a
mean percentage of 37.9%, indicating moderate awareness with considerable
variability. Among socio-demographic factors, religion was significantly associated
with knowledge level, while age, locality, family type, and prior sources of
information showed no significant relationship. The study highlights the need for structured educational interventions and curriculum
strengthening to enhance students’ knowledge and competencies. Improving
awareness will equip future nurses to play an effective role in gonorrhea prevention, management, and public health promotion
