Authors: S, Yashwanth; Shah, Sanjyot; Jayachandran, Malavika
Abstract: This research entitled "ECHOES OF ETERNITY: Celebrating Mattur and Hosahalli Through Space and Design" Is a project that has a vision and scope where we can integrate a sustainable architectural ecosystem for Mattur and Hosahalli Sanskrit villages in Karnataka to save Sanskrit from declining. Among a few villages today in the world, Mattur remains as one of the last villages where Sanskrit is still living, spoken, and used on a daily basis. However, this village is caught in modernization, but there is a huge interest in Vedic learning as well. My thesis would include a modern Gurukul, an interactive cultural center, a guest house, and a bridge. Gurukul would be an educational campus that could preserve and promote the study of Sanskrit and the Vedic tradition in the village for the next generation who are interested in learning and promoting Sanskrit. classrooms, chanting halls, and spaces for the meditation would be a part of Gurukul. The bridge would symbolize a cultural linkage between Mattur and Hosahalli, a twin village that is known for their language of Sanskrit usage in daily conversation. The local and the tourist population would be able to appreciate and experience this rich heritage through performances, workshops, and educational programs within the cultural center. The guest house is designed for the international guest as well as the local guest who are interested in exploring and learning Sanskrit to promote them in the future so that it can generate an economy for the development of the village into a cultural hub, also a Sanskrit hub. The primary aspect of this disease is to have community engagement to promote Sanskrit for the future. architectural intervention ultimately aims to promote global awareness of Sanskrit and Vedic tradition while also promoting social and economic upliftment of the local community. This will also place Mattur and Hosahalli at the center of the global movement in revival of Sanskrit and Vedic heritage, also integrating traditional and modernity in rural development.
