There is a significant need for a Craft Cultural Village in Chitradurga because the traditional crafts of the region are currently practised in scattered, informal, and poorly equipped environments that do not support the functional or cultural demands of these crafts. Most artisans work within congested home settings or temporary workshop, resulting in limited production capacity, poor lighting and ventilation, lack of comfort and minimal opportunities for skill exchange. The absence of dedicated training centres and organized retail spaces further restricts market exposure and discourages younger generations from continuing these crafts. Additionally, the rich cultural potential of chitradurga, supported by heritage attractions like Chandravalli Caves and Chitradurga Fort, remains untapped due to the lack of a structured craft-based tourism destination. A thoughtfully designed Crafts Cultural Village is therefore essential to comprehensive production, training, demonstration and cultural engagement into one integrated environment, strengthening the identity of local crafts while offering artisans better livelihood support and creating meaningful experiences for visitors.en_US
