Abstract: Cognitive radio networks are composed of spectrum-agile devices capable of changing their configurations and transmission parameters on the fly based on their spectral environment. This capability opens up the possibility of opportunistically reusing portions of the spectrum temporarily vacated by licensed primary users. This paper evaluates the feasibility of reactive routing for Cognitive Radio Ad Hoc networks (CRAHN). We set up a CRAHN simulation environment and adapt the weighted cumulative estimation of transmission time (WCETT) metric into AODV protocol to address the problem of efficient route selection between the source and destination and also evaluate the performance of both the protocol. The simulation result shows that AODV with WCETT metric performance better than the AODV because of its better route selection strategy in a CRAHN.
