Abstract: | Transport is a very important component of Urban Mobility at both micro and macro levels. It promotes global development and, at the same time, has an impact on individuals as well. Using public transport is a good sustainable method because it controls traffic and pollution. Interchange permits riders from a particular mode of transport to move and board the same or different mode in order to reach the desired destination. These interchanges can be of several types. This transport integration at various nodes along with various other developments is called a Multi Modal Transit Hub. The site chosen for the purpose of this Thesis is the Shivaji Nagar Bus terminal. With the metro station being developed adjacent to the site, it is important to integrate it with other modes of transport such as autos, taxis, cycles, railways etc to promote mobility. The Thesis Report includes why a Multi Modal Transit Hub is proposed at Shivaji Nagar and what makes it one of the potential sites for this project. In near future the foot fall would further increase and a transit hub in proximity to this area will encourage the use of Public Transport and will reduce and control vehicular traffic. The area will also support commercial establishments and hence will generate revenue. |
