dc.description.abstract | It is eccentric to live in beautiful scenery in the hills among some of the most charming people in the country, even though they may be ignorant and poor?- Verrier Elwin, Anthropologist Art is a visual wave that brings history to the present and is the intricate part of the human ecosystem. Art expresses the culture and tradition of different socio-economical groups of society. Tribal lifestyle holds art as their intricate way to continue their tradition thus helps them to preserve their history and culture. The tribal culture incorporates art in its every tradition and has its deterministic view through the society. Under the pressure of modernization the tribal culture is vanishing and losing its identity. Today there is a large urge in people to understand and integrate the tribal practices and culture and amalgamate it with the contemporary without interfering with their cultural identity. In the present era there is a large need to educate people towards these tribal cultures and traditions. It is also pivotal to reemerge these extinctive groups socially , economically and financially. This can be done by reemphasizing the art and architecture as they present a cultural connection with the target users. Hence the main theme of the project here aims at the uplifting of Halakki Vokkaliga tribal community of Honnavar , Uttara Kannada with an aim towards resuscitating their fading culture and traditional values. 2 The main ideology in this project is to build an interactive space for visitors and the tribal people , art lovers and artists , urban and rural. The development of Halakki Vokkaligas with emphasis on social, cultural growth can catalyze a more effective perception. This can provide a progressive growth pattern to the whole region and stabilize the community financially and take forward their culture , stay strong to their roots. This is an honest attempt to strengthen the society , culture and tradition of rural India and connect it with the urban. | en_US |
