Abstract: This thesis investigates a comprehensive strategy for the rejuvenation of a dilapidated community in Hubli, focusing on the integration of a recycling centre, training facility, and commercial hub. The study recognizes the interconnectedness of economic, social, and environmental factors in community development, emphasizing a multi-dimensional approach for sustainable transformation. The first component of the proposed solution involves the establishment of a state-of-the-art recycling centre aimed at addressing environmental challenges posed by waste accumulation. This facility is designed to promote waste reduction, resource recovery, and environmental sustainability, aligning with global best practices for waste management. The second element focuses on the creation of a training centre to empower the local population with skills and knowledge essential for socio-economic upliftment. Through targeted training programs, the community members will acquire vocational skills, entrepreneurship training, and educational opportunities, fostering self-reliance and long-term prosperity. The third dimension involves the establishment of a commercial centre designed to stimulate economic activity within the community. This centre will serve as a hub for local businesses, providing a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services. The integration of small-scale enterprises, cooperatives, and retail spaces aims to create a vibrant economic ecosystem. Through an interdisciplinary analysis, this thesis evaluates the potential impact of the proposed intervention on the community's overall well-being. The methodology involves a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, including surveys, interviews, and case studies, to assess the effectiveness of each component in achieving sustainable development goals. The findings of this research contribute to the existing body of knowledge on community development and offer practical insights for policymakers, urban planners, and community leaders seeking innovative approaches to uplift run-down neighbourhoods. Ultimately, this thesis advocates for a holistic model that addresses environmental concerns, enhances human capital, and promotes economic vitality as integral components of a resilient and thriving community.
