Abstract: The project examines an architectural intervention designed specifically for the Siddi community in Gujarat, an Afro-Indian group recognized for its unique cultural identity and long-standing presence in India. The project delves into the distinct socio-cultural practices, economic hurdles, and environmental factors related to the Siddi community to propose design solutions that are both sustainable and culturally relevant. The research prioritizes a participatory approach that engages the community in the planning and design phases to ensure their needs, traditions, and aspirations are at the forefront of the project's evolution. The proposal employs vernacular architectural methods, making use of locally sourced materials such as mud, stone, and bamboo to construct affordable and environmentally friendly buildings. Central spaces include community centers and public areas aimed at promoting cultural activities like music, dance, and communal events, which are vital to the heritage of the Siddis. The design also integrates facilities for education, skill development, and eco tourism, offering opportunities for socio-economic advancement while supporting environmental preservation.
